I have recently purchased a cabellas xpg hid light on ebay for 300$ and was wondering if anyone can tell me about bulb/balast/batery options and any problems that are recacuring with that light. I understand that it is a rebadged G&P light and the quality on those is spotty at best. Also does cabelas stand by this product in the event of a failure.

I always thought the ballast is contained in the body of the light. So you just power it with 12V DC.... I could be wrong about that.

The charging instructions on the rear panel make me think that the ballast and battery is contained inside the light. Just like a POB, stanley...etc...

Wait for others to reply first though... I am merely speculating.
Cebela's should be able to help you out.

Thats a neat HID, and even though its just a G&P rebrand, and I dont like promoting "cloning", still I have always wanted one. Not everyone can afford a hellfighter + cable + power supply.

Good information. An HID light is called a high intensity discharge light, and it offers several advantages over standard halogen light bulbs to the benefit of indoor gardening. The main advantages are the high light intensity and low power consumption.

And the right spectrum of light to support fast growing high fibre plants to make ropes and clothing and other byproducts.

Cabelas would probably help the original owner within the first year but a 2nd hand buyer from ebay, I would understandably doubt they would warranty anything. As far as options go, like most propriety HID's there are no realistic options but the same holds true for any specialized light unit, even Polarion.
