Anyone have an Ultrafire C2, and would like to post any real world beamshots and rough distances? Also i have heard "the c2 does not throw very well" and i have heard "the c2 throws better than the P3D CE" So.. who is really right? I have ordered a C2 on the basis that it will outthrow and outlight something than my P3D

Err... i don't see how someone could get the P3D CE to out-throw the C2?
Assuming both are is stock configurations, the C2's hotspot is almost twice as intense as the P3D CE.
With lens perhaps?

Im not trying to make a P3D outthrow a C2, im waiting on a C2 to get here, in the hopes that it will blow my P3D out of the water and hit my goal of 200 feet or 60m My P61 G2 can just about let me see the chimny almost, so im wanting to beat it !

well i dont own a P3D CEbut i do hav a P1D CE and the C2 has a tighter and brighter hotspot and also a wider spill as well. For my P1D, the hot spot is a little larger with a smoother transition to spill whereas the C2's hotspot to spill is alot sharper. Because the C2 has a large but not deep reflector it focuses the hotspot fairly well but alot of the light doesnt hit the reflector so it has a wide spill. I cant take any beamshots rite now because i lent my camera to a friend. I bought my C2 as a throw light to replace my "Golston 7W" and i was kinda dissapointed in its throw for a cree. It seemed to only throw slightly further but the tint was a lil purply compared to the warmer tint my Golston so they seemed about the same for outdoor use. It does out throw my P1D by a fair bit but for its size i generally make do with my P1D as i dont need to see long distances very often.

judging from your picture and description i think the C2 might just make it to that distance. If your able to change the emitter to a good Q5 bin it should make it easily or maybe even further!

Get an Ultrafire WF-500, spare bulbs, charger, and 18650 batteries. :) It's incan, but its 500 lumens will light that up.

If you want to stay LED, a Tiablo A9 if you can snag one, MRV, etc.

the only problem is i need runtime and a maximum length of 130mm else i cant edc it. but yes your right 500 lumens would do it lol.. I just hope i see major improvement than the Fenix P3D, i can be satisfied with that, until i get a Q5 with good throw

Just got my Ultrafire C2 HA! VERY nice light for the money. Light arrived in good condition. I went over it with deoxit and lubed all the o-rings and threads to make sure everything was all good, loaded a 18650 and it fired right up. This light has a nice tight hot spot, and a very large bright spill. It looks like it should out throw a P3D, I'll find out tonight. The spill area is larger than a P3D.

The finish on the body is great, solid construction, reverse clicky tail switch, but the tail switch feels solid and makes a loud click. Textured rubber boot over the tail switch.

I'm thinking this light would be good to mount on a bicycle, or in m case my kids' dual jogging stroller for night walks. :) It should have long run time on a 18650.

Are you using a protected 18650 cell and did it fit without modification?
I've also noted a wide price difference among USA dealers that are usually very competitive on other items. Are there different Cree emitter bins in some C2's and therefore they are different prices?

I have an unprotected 18650 in it at the moment. I have a protected 18650 on the charger and will be trying that next. I'll let you know if it fits. There is a non HA version, and I got the HA version, and there is probably a price difference between them. As far as I know they are all Cree XR-E P4's. I'd like to mod this to a Q5 or better sometime.

WadeF, interested in throw comparisons of C2 and your Dereelight.

I'll have to wait until night time so I can get out to see some real world throw, but in my basement at around 35 feet, the Deerelight Q2 w/ smooth reflector has a brighter hot spot than the C2. It's not really a fair contest, P4 w/ OP vs. Q2 w/ Smooth. I'll have to try the Deerelight with the OP vs the C2.

I have the new AW Protected 18650's with the nipple and they work fine, fit fine, no modification needed. I tested the output with the AW protected 18650 vs. two CR123 primaries, and the output is the same.

Thanks Wade, should be a fun test tonight!

Finally some darkness. :) Got outside. The Dereelight CL1H 2.0 w/ smooth reflector beats out the C2 easily in the throw department. No contest there.

However, the C2 really has a lot of spill, it's huge. It would be a great light for walking down a path as the spot would throw far down the path, but you'd have a wide spill to light up what's infront of you and all around you. Makes me want to go find a dark secluded trail to walk down. :) Would probalby make a good bicycle light.

Wade, did you get a chance to do OP to OP throw test?,
just wondering how much more throw (meters/yards) the Dereelight has over the C2 both using OPs.

Thanks

i just ordered the ultrafire c2 cree w/ Q5, should be here in 2-3 weeks (hopefully)... once i get it, i'll put up a review w/ pics.. unless someones already done this.. if so... can i be linked?!

nah Dereelight DBS will surely beat Ultrafire C2 on throw contest, since more of its light is used as spill thus brighter spill and the deeper reflector DBS has. What i like about Ultrafire C2 is the large and bright spill but less intense hotspot excellent for closer work but still usefull for medium throwing.

About P3D and Ultrafire C2, i am really sure that Ultrafire C2 will out throws P3D.
