Can a 18650 direct-drive a P7

hi can a proteced 18650 direct-drive a scc P7 led, i'm using trustfire and ultrafire 18650 2500mAh, i think that this figure is more like 2200mAh,any help or other battery that might be better would be great :thumbsup:

From what I know, if it is a trustfire or ultrafire protected cell, the protection will kick in at around 2.8amps of current. So that would be 3.7x2.8=10.36 watts. So it would not be able to power up a P7 at a full 3amps. 2.8amps or lower should work though...

Yes a 18650 will work just fine. The protection will not kick in until 2C, which, for even the cheaper batteries, is around 2*2.1A=4.2 amps. I have yet to see anyone drive a P7 at 4.2 amps so as long as you don't drive it that hard you will be fine.
