Can my OCD handle M91T on MD2 body?

Wow I read hundreds of Malkoff reviews, and I was all set to pull the trigger on an M91T head on MD2 as my EDC, then literally the last reviewer said that it bothers him a bit that the M91T doesn't fully screw onto the body. UGH that might bother me too lol, I mean Malkoffs are supposed to be like a work of art! Does anyone have the M91T, and if so does it look off, or is this reviewer making something out of nothing? And I'm assuming that this non-flush fit would be true of the MD2 body as well as the MD21700. Wow really, the only such review about a poor fit, and it just had to be the head that I settled on lol.

Ya I'm not really sure how it would fit flush or not flush? It kinda has to go up and down anyways to go from low To high😁

That reviewer might have single mode without hi/low ring. With head screwed down tight it might sit off a little, idk..

Most people want (need) the low output capability and get the switch brass ring.

Besides, if your OCD tells you don't like the flashlight for any reason, Malkoff accepts returns.

why M91T if you're going with the MD2 body...? why not have the M61HOT?

I'm the type of person who must go to the 1 star Amazon reviews 1st lol, yeah it could be nothing because no other reviewer has the same complaint.

That could be it!! And I would definitely choose the Hi/Low option so it could be a moot point.

It's more power from what I understand. Unless there's something about the HOT version of M61 that I missed reviewers were saying M91 is the M61 on steroids.

they are basically the same exact output... TIR optics, around 750 lumens and around 20k candela... the only difference is that the M91T runs between 5.5-12v and the M61HOT runs between 3.4-6v.. so in an MD2 body, which means 2 cells, if you're not using RCR16340 or 18350s you'll be underpowering it. And even if you do run it on two rechargeables, you'll be losing runtime for the same exact amount of output. Sooo I'm not sure why you'd use the M91T in a 2 cell body.

Oh ok thanks. I have been slow to understand how all of these interchangeable interactions work but now I think I'm finding the information that I need. Wow how did I miss the importance of optimal voltages for each head? Ok so I might need to go in a totally different direction because all three head that I wanted to buy and interchange on an MD2 (or maybe sometimes MD3) body are optimally designed for MD4 voltages (the Hound Dog Super, Wildcat, and M91T). It's looking like I might have to go with Elzetta Charlie & Bravo instead, with the HC Head. I of course won't be getting any outputs like Hound Dog Super of course. But 8.5" is too long for me, it would be awesome if MD3 & MD2 bodies just meant lower runtimes but same output, but oh well.

M61Hot has a really nice low too
Yeah at first I was thinking that 30 lumens is better than 5 because it's more powerful, but I started to rethink the advantages of 5 lumens and you're probably right that 5 is a better low.

I am at this point completely lost as to what you're trying to achieve... Where did you get the 8.5" figure from...? The MD3 +M91T is around 6.2" and that body will run the M91T, HD Super and the WildCat on full blast. With the Elzetta you'd be loosing basically all interchangeability and upgrade options. If you want max runtime in the smallest form, go with a M61HOT, M61N, and WildCat 18650 in a MD21700, that way a single 21700 cell will power it for almost two hours.

I'm trying to achieve maximum output for each head, and not concerned about maximizing runtimes. And from what I'm seeing those 3 heads will work but will work at reduced outputs if not used with the MD4 body (max voltage), which is an 8.5" long configuration. MD3 is lower voltage than MD4 and I could have sworn that I read that you wouldn't get full output like MD4. But I may have gotten that mixed up with comments about MD2 & MD21700, I'll go read over it again.

Looks like I'm forced to go with Elzetta even if it's true that MD3 does give you full output, head only options for both HD Super and Wildcat are sold out.

You will get full power out of the MD 3. You can run 3 primaries 2 18500 or even 3 16340's. All giving you all the M91 can put out

I'm not understanding the difference between the Hound Dog Super & Wildcat vs their 18650 only options, like aren't all MD bodies interchangeable?? Ok that's awesome that MD91T is max output on MD3, thanks! But which HD Super & Wildcat would I wanna pair with the MD3 body, the regular versions or the 18650 versions?
