This dose not look like a capacitor, more like a time bomb.
I never saw a capacitor like this one before /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif.
Does any one have a good capacitor site that I can look at? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif
Thanks
~Michael~

I don't see anything.

Capacitors come in more varieties than Heinz pickles. They can look like most anything. Is it ticking? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

No response. I guess it was a time bomb. Now I wish I hadn't been so damned cute.

If it hasn't exploded yet, digikey.com probably sells more kinds of capacitors than you can count. It could be a hassle trying to find a picture of yours there though.

I suspect he's talking about stiffening capacitors like the one being sold here.

Nothing but a digital voltmeter on top of a large capacitor. A lot of the national electronics stores (Circiut City, Best Buy) carry something similar.

Edit: Changed links - old one stopped serving images even to their own site.

Re: Capacitor? There\'s a site now.

web page Here it is.
I was looking at the sites and one question? Why do they have to be so stylish. Is it that whole to fast and to furious thing. They are not like the capacitor that you use in flash lights or compters. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Re: Capacitor? There\'s a site now.

Yep. Exactly what I thought it was.

As to the question of style and why have a built-in voltmeter. How else are they going to get you to pay $75 or more for a $15 capacitor.

Thats a rip off /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/xyxgun.gif. It's really that cheap $15.
Wow, it's amazing how people are that money hungry. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohgeez.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twakfl.gif

Re: Capacitor? There\'s a site now.

The $15 is somewhat of a guess based on lower voltage caps. made for computers. But you must remember the market for these is for people stupid enough to put 500 to 5000 W audio in their cars!
