Cateye HL550k LED

I have a cateye HL550K light on my bike, and I am thinking of dropping a Luxeon 1w (maybe an everled?) in there powered by two lithium 123's. I don't have a huge amount of experience doing this, so any one know how the Luxeon would handle the overdrive? Any better Ideas?

The EverLED wouldn't be overdriven, it is fully current regulated.
As far as a 1 W luxeon, you would have to resistor it, or regulate it.
