Hello all
I just got a CMG Ultra and is wondering what is the best cell to feed it. The instructions say mileage vary with the kind of cell used. I currently have an alkaline cell installed.. Thanks

Hi, welcome to CPF
You can basicly use any cell. Usually, lithium is best used as backup cell, alkaline as intermittent usage and rechargeables as a more economic but kind of unreliable as the cell itself undergoes self discharge.

But make sure you did not use the 3.6 Lithium cell.

I have a shoebox of AAs in various states of charge. If the battery isn't leaking, I toss it in and run it till it dies. Mine seems to run fine on alkaline, lithium, or rechargeables. But it's great for getting use out of those nearly-dead cells.

The Ultra's one little niftly light. Feed it anything and it buzzes along happily. NiMHs, NiCads, Alkalines, Li-AAs, 3V CR2/divids, Li-Ion AAs, you name it, it does it... About the only thing I might say no to are the "heavy duty" carbon zinc guys, and even at that, they still power this guy quite well...

Thanks All for your reply. I just had to put some tape around the cell to stop it from rattling
