This is a potentially stupid question, but here it goes anyway...

I've been using a Radio Shack charger/conditioner, model # 23-335A. Just recently I noticed a small sticker on the bottom that indicates the AA capacity range as 1301-1500 mah. The batteries used with it are Energizer 1700 mah.

Do chargers top out regardless of a batteries capacity? Are my batteries getting a partial charge?

Does this charger always shut off after the specified 5/8 hr period of time from the start of charge, or have you actually seen it turn off earlier?

From the description, it seems to be a timed fixed charge rate charger, not one that can detect the voltage droop of the batteries indicating full charge. Otherwise, I don't see why it would need a manual switch to select std/high capacity-
You're probably not undercharging them, because you usually don't start from full discharge (unless you used the conditioner every time, which generally isn't necessary).

If you have seen the charger indicate full charge in less than 5/8 hrs, that should indicate it probably has some detection circuitry to recognize full charge, so it should be okay.

Safety Timer Protection - automatically stops charging AA or AAA batteries after the charging timer runs out.

Battery Capacity Switch - lets you select the capacity (standard or high capacity) of the batteries you are charging.

Thanks wingerr. Just to be on the safe side I ordered a Maha C204F, I was able to return the Radio Shack charger.

RS charger # 23-425 which is now being sold has the features of the charger you mention plus this one is smart enough to turn off when a battery is fully charged.

So far I've been happy with it. It is much less likely to shut off prematurely than my older MAHA that is often confused by high capacity and new batteries.
