Is there a single charger that can do a good job on both RCR2 and 10440 li-ion cells?

So far, the best candidate I've come up with is an Ultrafire WF-138B AA/AAA li-ion charger, which has an output of 250 mA. But, I would have to make some tin foil spacers for the RCR2 cells.

Is there a better charger that can handle both RCR2s and 10440s?

Thanks for any guidance.

Check out this thread.

If you can handle it's limitations (sounds like maybe a 7ma trickle charge) it looks pretty good and doesn't exceed the recommended 1C charge rate. Not sure if it will handle the RCR2 without spacers though.

I don't use RCRs but the charger should (physically) handle any cell with the length between 30mm and 65mm.

Any reason you couldn't also charge RCR2 cells with this charger, using a spacer or screw or plug of tin foil?

I don't envision any problems but I don't have any RCR2s either. I think it may be even possible to charge them directly. They should be 27mm, right? It seems to be close enough to 30mm that you could bend a little the metal part that touches the negative end of the battery (the part that moves with the spring). Or you could simply add a magnet or any other spacer there.

Thanks, wapkil. I guess at $5.71 shipped (at DX), you can't lose (unless it blows up the house! :poof: ).

You're welcome. I have two of them and both behave well. I measured them quite extensively though so they may be too scared to plot anything evil. I also found no sign of semtex inside the cases ;)

I now have three of these chargers and they all behave well. I had one in which the light would not come on green so I got a replacement.

These are the only chargers I have which will do RCR2s but even then not a lot since I don't have much use for RCR2s. I use these chargers mostly for traveling where I use them to charge 14500s, AAs, AAAs and then only when really needed. I always cycle my cells afterwords in my C9000 or Pila. If I ever get 10440s I will use them for these cells too.

But used carefully, with cells removed as soon as the light goes green and never left unattended for long, they seem fine.

The 'early' one I got from KD has slightly lower nominal output than more recent ones from both KD and DX which are the same.

Thanks for your posts and info., 7histology.

Looks like all the reports on this little does-it-all charger are pretty good. I haven't ordered from DX or Kai in a while, although I've had good dealings with those fellows since they were partners in the previous store, whose name escapes me at the moment....:poke: (Fifth Unit?) Anyway, I've tried to thin my herd of battery types to a handful of the more common sizes recently, but this little gadget may tempt me into some 10440s and RCR2s.
