is there anything i should know before charging my batts, like always check them with a voltmeter or only let them charge for so long? anything like that?

charger is a cfr lights tenergy 750ma rcr123 with smart charger
http://www.cfrlights.com/servlet/the-549/2-RCR123A-3.0V-750mAh/Detail

i might get some aw rcr123's later but this is what i have now

also which of these would YOU buy being more experienced with the rcr123's
http://www.cfrlights.com/servlet/the-496/16340,-3.6,-volt,-rcr123a,/Detail
http://www.cfrlights.com/servlet/the-500/750,-mah,-rechargeable,-3.7,/Detail

http://www.cfrlights.com/servlet/the-457/rechargeable,-2000,-times,-3.2v,/Detail

sorry if i missed something in search

You should use the right charger. LiFePO4 charger for LiFePO4 charger.
And to make confusion complete there's also regulated ordinary LiIon which gives out 3,2 v (the same as LiFePO4). These also needs special chargers in most cases.

Personally I'd go for LiFePO4 because it's a much safer chemistry which even under severe abuse don't vent with flame as LiIon has a tendency to do. They can vent however but mostly with abuse the cell is just ruined.

Or actually I halfway has gone the LiFePO4 route. Have a heavy discounted charger kit on it's way but hasn't found a good source for cells where I live except DX but their cells are rather low performing and low quality. However the Tenergy you've found appears (at least to me) to be fine.

Write rcr123 charger in the Google Search, cpf only, at the top of every CPF page.

it doesnt say its a strictly LiFePO4 charger... just "smartcharger" so i would assume i can use other rcr123's, right?

It can certainly not charge 4.2V LiCo cells such as http://www.cfrlights.com/servlet/the-500/750,-mah,-rechargeable,-3.7,/Detail or http://www.cfrlights.com/servlet/the-496/16340,-3.6,-volt,-rcr123a,/Detail unless there is a switch on the charger to explicitly set it to charge them.

I guess http://www.cfrlights.com/servlet/the-317/led,-flashlights,-cr123a,-rechargeable,/Detail could work, but you would have to ask them if it's a good idea.

Hello Nasa779,

Not quite right...

I says it is a LiFePO4 charger and doesn't mention charging any other chemistry. With that information you must assume that it is only to be used with LiFePO4 cells.

The charging algorithm used with Li-Ion cells is different.

Here is an example of a charger listing that covers several different battery types.
