I,ve had a Led Lenser P7 for a week now and have been very impressed with the brightness and how white the beam is, So impressed that I decided to buy another two yesterday, I came across a shop that sold blister packs where you get 1 x P7 and 1 x P3 and everything in the shop was half price for the second item if you brought 2 items so I brought 2 blister packs which cost me £82 in total for 2 x P7 and 2 x P3 which was not a bad deal for 4 Led Lensers.
When I got home I had them all out the packs as couldn't wait to play
But was really upset when I discovered all 4 torches had a purple haze from the beam's :thumbsdow
I even swapped the battery pack from my existing P7 but this made no difference and not only have they all got a purple tint to the beams but the other P7's have slighty less output power to my first P7 despite all 3 packets having 200 lumens printed on the packets
oo: As at first I thought that they might of been the previous 167 lumens emitters before Led Lensor upgraded then to 200 lumens but all 3 P7's have the serial on the side and the red dot when you look in the lens so they are all the newer type P7's even through one of them clearly has a much brighter white light and is also chucking out about 50 more lumens!
What I'm wondering is do Led Lenser fit cheaper Cree LED's to the blister packs as they obviously sell them to the stores for less money as the packets say in big red writing FREE P3 inside packet.
I'm really not impressed at all, Perhaps they can mug off the nero typical person who has no knowledge of torches and has never owned a P7 before but I noticed the purple tint straight away where my wife could not really tell the difference as she has no interest in torches and as long as it lights up she can see enough from the bed to the loo in the night then it works ok ............ lmao
The purple tint on the P3's is a lot more noticable and I'm not a happy bunny as £82 can buy a lot of boards and semi conductors :ironic:
Could it be just a bad batch of emitters or are they trying to pull the wool over people's eyes?
Either way I'm going to write a nice email to Led Lenser! as I drove 35 miles for these torches and one was meant to be a present for the father in law but I just can't palm him off with a cheaper purple tinted Cree emitter :shakehead
