I am looking for a clicky AAA or AA thin flashlight. By thin I mean like Fenix LDO1 thin. Any ideas??

Streamlight makes an AAA clicky. I liked the one I had....worked great, sold it though.

The 4sevens Preon 1 and 2 both come with clickies, take AAA cells and are very thin. Here's a comparison with the AA Fenix L2D.

[link and inoperative image removed - DM51] I don't own this one, but I have been thinking about it.

I recommend both Streamlight Styles Pro (20$) and the Preon Kit if you can find it if not then go for the Preon 2

I have 4x AAA clicky equipped lights and would recommend 3 of them to you.

Preon 1 with added clicky - niggly but great with the right cell.
Streamlight Microstream - nice forward clicky
Leatherman S1 - clicky version of the Fenix E01 , low blue output but strong and handy.

The one I cant suggest is the Leatherman S2 unless you are totally PWM flicker unaware.

Overall this is a great light it just makes me nauseous on low. Same great construction and overall quality as the S1 but the low is simply unusable for me.
High is great.

I have a question about your experience with the Leatherman S2's PWM.

My limited experience with low PWM is from a Fenix L0D. So far I have found that the PWM is noticeable just in a specific circumstance -- if I hold the L0D motion-less with one hand and then move something with the other hand within a distance of several feet from the L0D, then I immediately feel a sharp feeling of nausea. Outside of that specific circumstance, in any other circumstance the L0D's low PWM hasn't been noticeable to me; e.g., I can go for walks at night and use the L0D on low without noticing anything odd visually or nausea-wise.

Is that what it's like for you regarding the Leatherman S2 ?

Microstream AAA cell has given me good service over the last 3 years, food source is Eneloops or Lithium primary( tad brighter than my other lights on Liths)

Fenix LD05 and Streamlight Stylus Pro use 2 AAA batteries and have clicky switches (the 2 lights shown in the center of the photo)

Streamlight Microstream and Leatherman S2 are 1 AAA lights (an Arc AAA-P shown on the left for comparison)

I think the specific frequency differs from person to person.

The S2 affects me whenever I move it around a room. If I hold it still its ok.
Any movement and my eyes are almost drawn back to something I missed. Its a weird feeling.

How about the LiteFlux LF2XT? One AAA and it's a clickie. Not the cheapest or the brightest, but it has the most advanced capabilities of any of the small AAA lights.

I've got Trustfire XP-EF23 and i don't recommend it - too heavy (stainless steel), bad spot form with light rings.

I've planned to change long time ago, have got 4 another AAA flashlights but till now i take it if i need small flashlight.

I actually like the extra weight of the Trustfire F23 in my hand and I don't notice it in my pants pocket either so I guess to each his own. Yeah, the beam could be better and it could be brighter, but it is a $13 flashlight and at that price point, I think it works great. It is a smooth reflector with a cree bulb which pretty much guarantees cree rings no matter how much it costs. I am statisfied with it for a $13 flashlight, but realize it is a $13 flashlight and can't compete with something like the Preon or the LD01.

With that said, I think the OP probably wants something a little higher quality, at which point I have to say +1 to the Preon. The streamlight is also nice for the price, but its not exactly very bright.

I don't mean to be difficult, but I am curious why the link I posted was removed. I had already edited out the inoperative image right after I posted it. And the link to the flashlight clearly worked, for people to know what I was talking about.

Once again, I am not trying to be difficult. I just want to know what was wrong so I don't do it again.

+1

If your budget allows it, the LF2XT is, if not, THE best 1xAAA light around. Check out the review for it! It's my favorite small flashlight - I upgraded to it from an LD01 and loved it - nothing else comes close!

It has the best beam I've seen, has a clicky, can be set up in any way you want it, can be ramped from very dim to very bright, choosing any point in between, has a built in battery voltage readout, auto-off after 3 min, over-discharge protection for rechargeables... well, I could go on and on..

+1 for the LF2XT. It's become my favorite light by far even though I usually prefer AA lights. But the LF2XT is just awesome in every way and worth every penny of the cost. But good luck trying to find one. They've been sold out for a while.

I do not recall precisely as I have to deal with dozens of such links every day, but it was most likely because it appeared to be in breach of Rule 6.
