Quickbeam, very nice review. I just got a Streamlight Clipmate that is similar to the one you reviewed. Mine even has the little O-ring that fits in the ball socket for the clip and the same rubber bezel. They must be made by the same overseas manufacturer for Streamlight and others. Very nice lights. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I bought a similar unit in Canada from Radio Shack. I'ts a blue color (iMac-like), and in place of the single red LED, it has 2 white LEDs (Nichia perhaps?). It's quite bright, unregulated and is rated at 40 hours. The light tapers off as per usual as the batteries die on an unregulated light. The LEDs are not perfectly aligned and there are bluish zones or rings of light in an otherwise wide swath of white light. The friction of the mounting gimbal is not quite stiff enough to prevent flopping around if you are running with the light cllipped to the peak of your baseball hat.

BTW, the Radio Shack Ultra-Bright switches on/off by back and forth rotation of the black rubberized front of the light which houses the circuit board on which the LEDs are mounted. Two spring-loaded fingers or contacts on the 3AAA battery cartridge slide back and forth directly on the circuit board, leaving visible traces of wear. Does anyone have any experience with failures caused by this type of wear? I've seen cheaper lights (by Dorcy) that have 'proper' rubberized pushbutton switches that would seem to last longer by design.
