Closest EDC to D10 Tribute?

My buddy is getting himself a new light. He's totally new to lights, and is tasking me with informing him of his options.

I loaned him my D10 tribute for a few days, and he's in love. Beyond reason really, kinda like your first girlfriend I guess. I told him they aren't sold anymore, so he wants to buy mine badly, and thinks the ramping UI is the ultimate.

Here's my dilemmas.
1) I love her too. The D10 has been awesome (aside from some early glitchiness), and is the perfect EDC for me, except for the ramping UI.

2) We're good buddies, so I don't really want to "do business" with him. What if it crapped out in a month? How do I give him a "fair" price?

3) What would I replace it with? Fenix LD10, D10 SP, JetBeam, etc etc etc.

Any advice? I might be missing something, but I'm not aware of something that's real close to the D10 Tribute in size, brightness, and ramping UI.

Wait, you do or don't like the ramping UI? In point 1 you say "except" for it, but then close with it. Just trying to figure out if you personally like it or not.

If you do like the UI, keep it. I've been carrying my D10 Tribute clipped to my pocket every single day since I got it. Took my time lovingly installing a trit with some Norland and everything. You couldn't take this light from me if you tried. If you do like the ramping UI, I'd imagine you're feeling the same.

If you don't, I guess it's up to you. If you camped CPFMP long enough or made a WTB post, you might find someone looking to sell their Tribute or an old ramping D10. Then you could pass it along to him without giving yours away.

Part of the fun of really wanting something is the wanting part. I've seen people post that they're on their second YEAR of waiting for a JHanko D10 or a Tri-V or what-have-you. People always want what they can't have, and he wants your light. :)

I'd probably point him to a D10 SP R2 with the preset levels UI and tell him to make a Marketplace account and post for an old ramping one. Odds are once he starts using and carrying it, he'll get over the Tribute and start chasing the next big thing. :)

I don't care for the ramping UI, but he does. Sorry if I wasn't clear on which points are for his flashlight needs, and which are for my "replacement" needs.

The D10 SP would be perfect for me...BUT...

It has the stupid strobe/SOS modes as the quicky clicky access (click hold and double click). If it left the low and high modes to those shortcuts, I would have already sold him my D10 at half price and gotten an SP for myself.

The LD10 is a wonderful light, and would replace my D10 in a heartbeat...BUT...

Stupid 9 lumen low. The D10 low is even a smidge brighter than I'd like at ~5 lumens.

I showed him some info on the Quark AA, and he's now torn between my light and it. If it was as small as the D10, the decision would be over and done already.

How about the Jetbeam Jet-I Pro. It's not exactly the same UI but the three modes of the Jet-I are ramping, always from low to high though.

liteflux lf2xt got almost the same ui as the ramping d10, doubleclick to lo, click+hold high, hold it and it starts to ramp + you have a programming mode, It can messure the voltage of your batteries ect. I think its better han the d10.
