CMG Infinity bad experience

Help Support Candle Power:

I've had an Infinity banging around in my pack and web gear for years and never a problem. Luck of the draw? As a side note, anyone know why CMG sold out? Every backpacking shop and most outdoor stores have carried them for years. They had to be selling quit a few so why sell?

Steelwolf,

If it's any consolation to you, I had the same kind of luck with another product that everyone loves -- the CCRANE Quick Charger. I got two of them at different times (about 9 months apart) that were both defective. The luck of the draw, I guess.

Definitely luck of the draw. The Infinity is a well-respected product. Heck, I was even extolling its virtues for a long time. But maybe, CMG hates me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Or my pockets are a more extreme environment than I realised. Afterall, the beam of my wonderful Arc-AAA, which has served so well for so long, is starting to look a bit greenish. It started out a nice white colour, if slightly violet.

I can't say the same at all. I've had one of the original and an Ultra-G, and both have far out-performed what I expected. I lent one to a friend, and while handing it over claimed “Don’t worry about breaking it, it's indestructible.” He promptly took it and threw it against his driveway. It lost a bit of paint but still works perfectly. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I had quite the same experience last year. Intermittant operation , then nothing. Upgraded it to a 1W Lux like this ..

If the pictures don't show up (still on Sony Image Station) and you are interested in them PM me and I'll send them to you.

Since I did this mod it has been one of my most useful EDCs, no problems so far..
