This is a very nice little light that I got today for $24.00. I would recommend it to a friend if they were interested. I do think that there is better options out there. I also think that there is much worse out there as well. The light claims a 20 battery life, I have not yet been able to determine that yet. They light has a rear activation switch that is nice but a bit ling in travel for me. The light is just shy of 4 inches. and is about as big around as an AA battery with a swelled head. Build looks good, claims to be water resistant. Threads were a bit dry coming to me but i can let that slide.
I took the photos the plain wall photos are about 5 feet away with a camera iso 200. The ones with the wall ornament are about 10 feet away with the iso at 200 again . The outside pics are about 15 feet away for the toys and about 40 feet in the air for the tree shot. Well this is my first review, I was just going to post some pics, then I started to talk a bit. My left review will be better..... I hope anyway

Its all part of the global conspiracy by the black shadow forces of the UN.

The icons all look evenly illuminated to me.

I like this beam, all my lights like this have little rings around the hot spot but yours does it much cleaner. Granted mine are $20 specials.

I mis-spelled a few words in that post sorry about that. So, then do I need to be using Photo bucket instead of Flickr to embed the images???

Oh, and thanks for supplying the link, I did not even think of that.

Nice little compact light. I appreciate LED Lensers way of inventing things and playing with optics and such.

In spot focus, it seems that it generates a huge spot instead of a tightly focus beam. Kind of resemble the beam coming from my 65 lumen Sunlite Slim.

Can you give us some more outdoor distance shots of the spot mode in comparison with the flood mode? Thanks.

no problem, I will try to take some this week. and I will use my photobucket instead see if I have any better luck. And yes the spot mode does not give that intense hotspot. But it look really cool. It is just like putting something in a frame. It is about as potent as my P2D on Medium in the house, only the light is much whiter on the P3. The P2D kills the P3 outside I think. But inside. I like it alot. I have been carrying it the past few days instead of my P2D. I want to put it on my keychain, but I am not sure if I will like it there. I wll of course try it though. For $24.00 I am very happy with this light.
I will get some more pics
some more specs incase I missed putting them up

LED Lenser P3
.33 watts
Galium LED
14 Lumen
Splash Resistance
20 hours for battery life
anodizing in type II
very nice holster!
Shirt clip
wrist strap
nice box
battery

Here are some more outside shots, this is at a friends house he was taking the pics. I shot everything at iso 200, I believe
this time we ran the iso in auto mode. There was still ambient lighting from the neighbors yard and the stuff like that so it was not pitch black in his back yard.
But I hope these help.

These are all at least 15 feet away the bush is about 20 feet away, and the tree tops were like 30 to 40feet. The Fence was about 15

Here are the original pics

I already installed the free battery before I took the photo.

This is NOT the battery that comes with the light. The light is a AAA, I just used this battery for a comparison

If you ask me the spot and flood are kind of mixed up. You can see farther with the flood and you can see a wider area with the spot:thinking:

Great shots none the less.

yes, I almost get the feeling the spot mode is supposed to mimic a search light. I have seen other reviews that have the same results. The flood is the better option. But when friends are around the spot is what everyone want to see due to the blue ring. I like this little light.

thats because the aspheric moves foreward to create the spot. In the process of doing so that elongates the bezel and increases the amount of Lumens lost. When the bezel is elongated to the spot position, more of the side emitted light from the emitter is wasted illuminating the inside walls of the (longer) bezel, and never makes it out the front. So while tightening the focused spot does concentrate the light output... it does so at the expense of some overall lumen output.

If you were to measure Lumen output in a sphere at the two settings, the spot setting would measure less lumens than the flood setting.

I have a dorcy that works on the same principle. The one thing that I don't like about this type of adjustable aspheric is the flood setting always seems to be darker in the middle than to the sides. you can see it in the outdoor pics.

Those shots look better than I'd have expected from such a cheap AAA light. I agree they'd make good gifts.

Do any B&M stores carry this light?

Yes, I bought it at a B/M Police Shop here. I know alot of stores carry the Coast products. you may just have to call around. If you have a cop shop near by that may be your best bet. But I have started to EDC this little guy more do to the low cost and the fact if something happens I can go to the store in town as opposed to waiting 5 days. Good luck finding a store If you go to Coast's website they may have a dealer link. I do know that you look at the Catalogs they have some pretty cool PDF's

I am going to try to take some completely pitch black outside shots here maybe this weekend. It seems everywhere I go there is some kind of ambient lighting form a nearby building or something
