So I had this crazy idea, take the Seoul leftover from upgrading my U60 and drop it my old Coast. Turns out this thing rocks with a Seoul in it, no spill but man can it throw. All in all it was pretty simple once I figured out a way to isolate the slug, everything slides out once you unscrew the pill.

So here's my question, I've got the 3AAA version of this and I don't have the packaging anymore, from what I can find this is supposed to be 1.25w? And the 2 123A is supposed to be the 3w? If so, shouldn't my Seoul be underdriven? As it is, it's just slightly brighter than my U60 on high and I'm very confused:huh2: . Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that it kicks ***, just very puzzled.

Any light you can shed on this:ohgeez: would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi there,

I think you have mixed W ( WAT, power consumption ) with V ( VOLT, voltage of the battery).

I'm trying to mod my coast led lenser (but 1AA version- david 15) and asking for a bit of help too! (here). If you could look at it and see what I'm trying to do.

But from what I can see in your questions is this.
Do you know if your light is direct drive or does it have any kind of circuit/resistors in it? I've seen some folks driving the SSC/CREE with a simple resistor off of 3AAA cells. So yours could work assuming that your light has some type of resistor! if your light is labeled 1.25W and in fact it is driving 1.25 watts, SSC would be fine but can't be fact.
Some measurements/pic would help.

I know this is wrong what you said "2 123A is supposed to be the 3w?"

Since I don't have your light, that is all I can think of. But
Good luck!
PS. I see U r in bayarea? where are you?

I'm just going off what I can find on the LEDLenser sight, from what I can find there mine should have had a 1.25w in it but the Seoul I swapped in is REALLY bright so I got kinda confused. I was just hoping someone else knew what was in this thing since I can't remember what it said on the package when I bought it.

Soo , may be it is direct drive and it is now over driving the led. Check with multimeter at the tail cap or something to get "how much DC m going thru when it is on?"

I opened some LL and if I remember right, also a V2. It's the light with the 3xAAA carrier.
The stock Led is a LuxI, overdriven by using 3xAAA cells. I found no resistor, so the binning was at the higher level, but still overdriven (measured more than 500mA with a very poor heatsink).
I don't know what do you mean with the 2x123 cells, but I guess you mistake something.
You want to swap the stock Led into a SSC, right?
The only way that this makes sense is improving the heatsink and measuring the current at the Led with a DMM to secure a well build and reliable light.

Best regards
