Coleman CR2 Headlamp

just noticed this on the coleman website, looks pretty interesting. CR2 format is nice as well as 75 lumens. The strap looks pretty terrible though. Only 20 bucks with the family store discount too.

Nice but you might find that headlamp a bit limited in the long run. Now the Fenix HP10 has much more leeway to do many more jobs and the light will last much longer:

The HP10 features four different levels of output, allowing you to dim the light as low as 7 lumens - which will run for up to 210 hours!
  • Cree XR-E LED (Q%) with lifespan of 50,000 hours
  • 4 output levels, 3 flashing modes
    Levels: 7 lumens (210 hrs) >> 50 lumens (22 hrs) >> 120 lumens (7.5 hrs) >> 225 lumens (total 2.5 hrs)

  • Flash modes: Strobe (5 hrs) >> SOS (50 hrs) >> Warning Flash (44 hrs)

[*]Max lighting distance (throw): 120 meters
[*]Dual switch system with easy operation - one for on/off, the other for output adjustment
[*]Digitally regulated output - maintains constant brightness
    [*]Memorizes last output level
[*]Overheating protection: lamp goes back to high output after 3 minutes continuously in Turbo mode
[*]Uses four 1.5v AA (Alkaline, Hi-MH, Lithium) batteries
And also, Batteryjunction.com allways has them 5% discount coupons.

I have the Coleman. It's a pretty nice headlamp for the money. The CR2 makes it perfect for me to keep stowed in my glove compartment for emergency use.

Gem -

First off, you are helping nobody cutting and pasting off the fenix store. Also the hp10 isn't available yet, costs 60 dollars more and is much much bigger. Not a very helpful post.

Thanx for the helpful commet sol:
Batteryjunction says this light should be available by end ofAug or early sept and yes even with discount still under $60, as the specs shows it will give more options if one wants them and lastly SOL, I was just offering other posible solutions to him, if you dont'mind?

Sorry, I guess I was being a bit harsh. Nevertheless, I've never been a fan of headlamps with big battery packs, but I do see the benefits. A zebralight would probably be more up my alley. However I like that the coleman is small and still quite bright and very cheap. Too bad they don't make it in a single AA model or a cr123

That Coleman is a decent little emergency kit headlamp. It's been out for over a year iirc as I bought a couple last summer.
If you take a look in the headlamp section, there's a nice little energizer 1AA headlamp that we've all been anticipating for awhile. And... it's finally shown up! :D A bit bigger than the Coleman but with al the goodness of AA and variable output.

I also have one and love mine. Used it on several occasions including a bike-ride (along with another light) and it works great. Extremely light, and the headband holds perfectly. I haven't found an equal replacement for it as of yet.

BTW - this should be moved to the headlamp forum..

thanks for the thumbs up, that strap did look a little leery to me.

What is the new energizer headlamp called? I mustve missed it.

The Coleman unit is a pretty sweet little headlamp. I have a couple, and they are nice for when you want a spot beam instead of a flood like the ZebraLights have. The quality is not quite as high as ZebraLight, but they still seem to hold up just fine in my experience with them.

No prob Sol. Yes, headlamps do serve a nice purpose of needing light and hands free. The Zebra's are nice also with it's flood. You can even put a Zebra on your shirt pocket to still keep hands free. The small headlamps are nice too as like you said cheap and very light and also very good light for close ups. Fenix even makes a headband where you can use your own small flashlight.

Please note that threads about headlamps belong in the Headlamps forum. I'll move it there now.
