The streamlight cyclone has a bright bulb and a smaller light (an LED I think). It uses 4AA and is "rated" at 6000 cp. I don't have one, but I have played with one.
I have one and it is nice. It makes a great light for a car because it is really bright, about the same as a 3 D cell mag, and has an orange LED in there also. So you can use in for looking at things inside a car at night without blinding yourself. It also has a swivel head so you can set it down and aim it at say a tire your changing. I have it reviewed on my regular flashlight page. The orange LED is almost to bright.
I carry both kinds to cover all lighting situations, but wouldn't it be cool if someone made, say, an Expedition-type light with an array of LEDs surrounding a Mag-lite type of bulb in the center, and a switch for going from LED to regular mode?
I really like LEDs, but you can't beat a Maglite-type flashlight for throwing a beam.
I owned a streamlight cyclone for a while, there where three things about the light I didn't like:
1) ABout 10 minutes of continous use put a good dent in the batteries, so it was no longer at it's peak brighness. Maybe different brands of batteries would work better.
