Hello

I'm looking for some first-hand opinion on the MX-600. This look like it has potential for a nice (relatively) cheap glovebox hotwire for people that have extra 18650's lying about.

The light can be seen here:

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10855

http://www.kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=735

This basically looks like an Ultrafire WF-500 (or WF-600) class light, and seems to use the same bulb format. It comes with a Phillips bulb, but should be able to use the WF-500 bulb (cheap) or the Lumensfactory HO-R5 (perhaps higher quality).

Some comments in the Dealextreme forums indicate that build quality is above average for this class of light. I guess I have a few questions:

1) Has anyone purchased one from DX or KD? I notice some difference in the images. On KD, the extension tube has (IMO) a nice knurling. On DX, the extension tube is smooth "Ultrafire-ish". Just wondering what comes in the actual package.

2) Anyone know the current draw of these bulbs on 2x 18650's? Just wondering if they require double-tap on AW 18650's

3) The comments in the DX forums indicate that the MX-600 has a more floody beam than the other similar lights (which is preferrable for me). Just wondering if anyone has beamshots (a longshot, but thought I'd ask).

Thanks!

Well, I answered some of my own questions with further searching on the WF-500 and the R500. Looks like the LF bulb is drawing 3A, but seems to be single-click on AW 18650's. Also sounds like the UF 500lm lamps have reliability issues. Haven't found much info on the Philips lamp that is supposed to come with the MX600.

There is only one way to find out for sure if I'll like the light :)

i have this light.....it has great power compared to my m c with 5761 bulb rated @ 600+ lumens...i would say they have roughly the same out-put....this light is well worth the money...i bought mine from china goods.

Well, I have a FM85 as well as a AW softstart mag11/5761 setup. If the MX-600 gets anywhere near the WA1111 I'd be surprised, let alone 5761 range.

If I get a nice semi-floody white 400lm OTF beam for 40 minutes, mission accomplished.

Should be on-the-way from KD, will report back in 2 weeks or so.
