Anyone ever convert a D cell lantern to run on CR123 batteries? Have tons of CR123.

I have two of these lanterns (Costco Coleman) that runs on 8 D cell batteries. It would be so much easier to just run it on 4 CR123 instead. Any ideas?

Trying to get ready for Hurricane Irene...

Assuming mentioned lantern bulb takes 0.8~0.9 Amps, 4xCR123 will run it for little over an hour. Is it good enough for emergency use?
If you don't want to use LSD D cells, using 2, 3 or 4 parallel lithium primaries in D adapters will give you much longer run time.

Like fivemega said.... the capacity of 2 alkaline D cells dwarfs that of a 1 cr123. I could however see modding a 4AA LED lantern for 2x123s perhaps.
