Convoys Buck-Boost driver burns after bad contact

Hi there,

i recently bought a Convoy S12 UV with Buck-Boost driver (which was the reason to buy this light).
I tried to use a slightly shorter battery, wich lead to a slack contact...

The driver did not like that and burned.

Did anybody else ever burn one of these drivers or is it just me?
I feels a little weird. A sudden cutoff happens every time you switch the light off.. So what?

Since the PCB is not to expensive I will order some more, but I wonder if the concept in general is solid. If you have an opinion on that, I would like to read it

It's a very Budget brand.
As such, best to use the type of battery it was designed for.
The good thing is, they're cheap. So, you can buy another one.
Just use the proper battery. I have six different Convoy lights.
No issues. I just use the type of battery each one was designed for.
