Costco: 27w motion activated flood

I was picking up groceries, and always walk through the electronics isle to see what's new. The had a 27w 3-head CREE security flood light by 'Illumination Dynamics'.

Its a 3-head, with 3 LEDs in each head (presumably each 3w). It looked nicely built, with a solid aluminum housing and cooling fins on each head. Anyone tried one of these? I was looking at building a motion flood, but wondering what kinda output these offer. It had a 3 year warranty, and was $75. Item #511987. 150w output using 27w was touted on the shelf tag.

Here's a pic:

I will try to fix the CPF links in the next 2 weeks or until I give up in frustration. Can not do that and verify with CPF down.

Looks like Lowes might need to 'adapt' to the price:

That one lowes is selling looks to have more LEDs and more output than the one in the picture above. I wonder what LEDs they are using for these lights?

OK, for the sake of science, I bought one. Any idea what CREEs these are? Xlamp XP-E from the look of the part number I guess. I'm not terribly familiar with these...seem like a decent choice for $75?

The reflector comes out with a simple hex screw, and thsi was what was underneath:

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but from the board it says "XPE-WHT", and from the shape of the die (not filling the dome but not tiny either) it looks like an XPE.

That's a VERY large MCPCB.... if that indeed is what it is.

I believe I saw the same thing at Home Depot under the Lithonia (Or maybe it was Heath-Zenith) brand name. There was also a black version that had a dusk to dawn sensor instead of a motion sensor.

I stopped in at HD today and took a look at the Lithonia light. It does look pretty much the same as the Costco Unit but also costs a bit over $138 before tax. On a positive note, it comes with a 5 year warranty .
