so how many of you will actually use your cpf edition arc? I am thinking of keeping mine in the original packaging since I have a standard and the turqoise ev on order also. seems a lot of you have your flashlight collection then your arc collection

Mine may spend more time in some semi-secure location being stared at and photographed than actually being used - but if the HA finish in this color is all it's cracked up to be, it might find an additional place as an occasional carry item. Honestly though, I think it will be more of a "hey check this out" thing than it would be a daily usage article.

Storing it inside a Crown Velvet bag inside another Crown Velvet bag inside a reinforced lead container inside another Crown Velvet bag inside a mini-safe inside the toilet tank is just overkill, and I think I'd be perfectly happy just to hang it out in the open where I can admire it every day, and use it if it's the handiest light within reach. If it gets dirty or falls in something (jelly, axle grease, etc.) it's nothing that a bit of warm soapy water and a toothbrush won't take care of. After all, it *is* an Arc.

I plan on it replacing my LE for EDC when I get it. Of course I don't carry it in my pocket. I wear it on a lanyard around my neck and if anything happens to it there that will cause it damage, I won't really care, as I will most likely be dead!!!

Ever since I found out that my order was the first for the first limited release Arc light, I decided that it would be something to display the light.

I have a curio display in my office at work and my CPF edition is going right there. I've been searching the web for the perfect display case made of either cherry, walnut or mahogeny. I'm still looking but when I find it, the light is going right there.

Needless to say, I've turned on my light to test its function but that's it. Proudly displayed; not EDC.

BTW, what I'd really like to see is an annual limited release light. Something like "CPF Limited Release 2002."

I plan on using mine as the around the house light when just a "little" light is needed. I wouldn't dare put it on my keychain to suffer that kind of abuse.

If you want the light to be displayed on its side I have an idea. Many places sell very nice wooden (or stone) pen holders with a simple groove routed to hold the pen. Some are also made for two pens (two grooves) and could hold an entire ARC collection. Each groove could probably hold two or three ARCs - various models (standard, LE, CPF). If you can find a pen dealer near you they may have some of these out of different woods. These would cost around five bucks or a little more. Just a thought. A local who makes wooden items for flea markets, etc. (or if you have a friend who works in a cabinet shop) could make these out of scraps and they would look great. Levengers has a single pen stand on sale for $5. It might work if you put something below the ARC so it was a little higher. The two pen model is pictured at http://www.levenger.com/Shop/PenInk/ then click on "Pen Holders and Stands" then "Portmanteau Pen Stand." Levengers is usually full retail, but they have some good clearance sales. Their shipping might make it too high. One last idea. Check the antique malls. You can find glass rectanges with two or three grooves molded into the top. These were for dip pens. If not too fancy, around $10. Good luck.

Me too! And after the succesful removal of all my chest hairs I will hang it on my wall, nicely displayed with a pic of Gransee and that bull/man/Arc god thing.

I am not sure how I will "deploy" mine yet. I will probably keep the CPF one in my desk drawer at home and move that one to my EDC instead of the prototype I have been using. The on/off on the prototype is getting flaky. I should probably just clean it, but that would require work

Also the prototype has been know to turn on by itself, but the newer ones don't do that.

Bull/man/Arc/god thing here.

Mine will absolutely replace my LE EDC neck-lanyarded light. I figure it'll never have resale value since I defiled it with my name, so why not use the thing, and be able to fondle it every day, anywhere I happen to be? I'm always whipping my LE out to impress everybody anyway, it might as well be my fanciest one! And since I've already removed my chest hair with the LE, I'm ready to roll.

I don't have an LE so mine will be EDC. I have it on a small climbing hook which I can hook on & off a loop on my jacket.

Ah the "rotation", something I've been pondering....

A small Victorinox in an equally small leather sheath has been in my left front pocket seemingly forever. It was "joined at the ring" a few months back by an LE. As EDC goes, this is a position of honor, regular use and low impact. The CPF will replace this LE.

The LE beam on my main keychain (my Liberty) is just a tad off center, it will be moved to the Normark sheath on the secondary keychain (wifey's Durango). The LE from pocket will go in my Normark sheath on the main keyring.

The new EV Turquoise will take the place of my laser-engraved camping trip Turq. on a lanyard and the original Turq. gains a home in my backpack as a permanent addition.

You think this is bad, you should see what happens when a new knife arrives! Like just last Friday....

My CPF will have a pampered EDC in one of my sport coat pockets or the small watch pocket in my bluejeans.

IMHO, it was "born in the USA" to be not only used, but also proudly shown to the rest of the world.

it is precisely this question that i asked myself when i first heard that the light would be released...after seeing the price tag, and the fact that i already have this light in a natural ha3 finish, i decided to save my money for something more usable...

Seriously, it was tough (for a brief moment) to part with the cash for something that was functionally equal to six other lights that I own. But then, I'm only planning on living once.

Mine is already on EDC keyring duty. I'm not saving it for future generations.
After noticing brass powder on the CPF, I moved it between 2 chrome-plated steel Jaguar door keys.

I am very impressed with the light. The head knurl is a little more agressive than the body, which is perfect for its smaller surface area. The body knurl is comfortable and not sharp.
The color is a little more green than my PIII and Stylus, really closer to natural light than any white LED I've seen so far.
Also the LED is perfectly centered in the head, much better than the LE I bought for my dad two months ago. The beam spread is quite smooth. I can see why Peter prizes these LEDs.
The custom engraving (email) is very functional too.

Do all the CPF Arcs have wierd anodizing?

Note the area between the head and barrel. It looks like the blue dye made it in *varying amounts* in this area, but not all of the anodizing. This will be more visible in the next picture.

Close-up. The texture of the anodized area is different than the LE, most noticeable on smooth areas of the flashlight such as the area where the engraving is done.

And no, before you ask, I'M NOT GIVING IT BACK!! I'm making an observation, not going out on a ***** session.
