Got my CPF edition yesterday. I also got an EV from TTS the day before. The EV was intended as the sacrificial light that would get fed to my keychain, but the HA finish is supposed to handle the wear better. The CPF was to ride shotgun on my keyboard so it would be handy for escape from the bowels of the office building where I work should the power fail. Meanwhile they both ride in separate pockets; EV in shirt pocket, CPF in watch pocket of my jeans.

Anybody try their CPF on a keychain?

Peter says the HA finish will wear well, and as somebody else said, within 3 years there will be an even better one out. So I guess the CPF will rule my keyring ... and in the darkness grind them.
 
I have a CPF on my keyring. It sits between two chrome-plated steel keys. After 1 week there does not seem to be any wear on the HA finish.
I watch the swinging Arc each time I unlock my car. It keeps trying to eat the paint.

I'm sold on regulated LED's. Nice and bright till the battery's dead. What a concept!

Got my replacement head today, and it's perfect. If I were a Borg (they strive for perfection and accept nothing less), I would have this light mounted to my ocular implant instead of that cheap little laser.

I might end up having to make a totally seperate section on my website just for Arc flashlights. I still have a couple that need to be put up, like my really spectacular green Arc, and of course, this one.
 
Just got my CPF Arc today...mine appears to have the same slight imperfection with the colouring around the head that some others had. I'm not very concerned though..

The light output is interesting though - comparing to a v3.0 regular white Arc which I ordered at the same time, the regular white one has a definite blue/purple tint, and also seems to have a bigger, brighter hotspot that the CPF.
Also, comparing to one of my older LEs, the overall beamon the CPF has a wider spread than the LE(about 20% wider I'd say. Colour seems about the same as the older LE though..)

I love the knurling on the CPF though. Definitely much smoother to feel than the standard ones. My only (minor) annoyance with the Arc AAA has been that the knurl is so fine that it gives me a 'grating' feeling when I touch it, like rubbing your finger on a nail-file..

Yep...and an LE before that.... no problems with undue wear...

My CPF also has a slightly wider central hotspot than my LE, but has a slightly higher total luminous flux as well. The color temperature is just slightly warmer than the LE.

That's a harsh way to treat a new toy. Hope you got all that out of your system. If you can't play nice with the CPF you'll just have to send it to me

I know, Walt - all that punishment *did* hurt me more than my CPF itself. But after that 'trial of fire', I've forged a deeper, more profound respect for Arc products. BTW, the CPF is my first-ever Arc flashlight, and certainly won't be my last!

We can tell the CPF is your 1st ARC. The LE is the finger file edition,, not the CPF. We'll let it slide this time, since you're a "newbie", but don't let it happen again.

Ok ok - yeah, I wuz rough on my new CPF Arc, with another good reason. I have just started stocking them as a dealer in Singapore (really - just ask Peter, I just placed my first 12pc order)and those 'tests' were to prove to myself that indeed the Arcs were every bit as tough as I've heard. Now I can market them aggressively with full confidence! Unlike in the US, not many here have heard of the CPF and Arc - maglite is still king to the 'great unwashed'. I hate marketing bullcrap, so empirical proof was necessary so that I could educate and sell Arc products here based on *fact*, not fluff.

Yes, genuine flashlight abusers get 6 stokes of the cane in Singapore, but this was done in the name of marketing science

So there. Just to let you guys know I love Arc flashlights so much, I'm selling them. Heck I love and sell eternalights and lightwaves too, and they've all gone thru my 'lab' pretty much the same way. I didn't try busting up my CPF 'cos of some weird perversion or anything - it just happened to be the first Arc I ever laid my hands on. Quit flaming me already! =D

I've got my CPF too - and its loverly, simply loverly - AND TOUGH AS BOOTS TOO!!! When I got it, I promptly twisted it on, admired the near perfect finish and beam and then flung onto a hard tiled floor, whereupon it slid 20 feet and came to a halt after hitting a steel table leg - hard. Picked it up, flung it against a concrete wall and took a small chunk of paint off the wall in the process. Any harm to my precious CPF? Nah - nada, not one scratch and the light n'er even *flickered* during that abuse. Since then, I've taken a shower with it, filed my nails with it and it just keeps a tickin'. This is one heckuva light!

What a day....I knew it would be here....
I came home at lunch, NO PACKAGE. I got home from work, NO PACKAGE. Then I waited....5pm, 6pm, NEARLY 7 and finally, there was the truck right out in front. I watched through the window, hmmmm no movement, opened the front door in anticipation, STILL NOTHING. FINALLY I put some shoes on, pounced through the snow and beat on his door; "HEY WHERE'S MY PACKAGE?"
"Oh I put it on your back door!"

IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT. Ounce for ounce, there is no better punch. This is a work of art.
Thanks Peter for another great product that was worth the wait.
Quite an improvement from version 1.0.

Long long ago... as in last November... I wanted to buy one (yes one) little LED keychain light. A Google search turned up Brock's LED page. Somewhere on that page he mentioned that he was a moderator here, so I thought I'd stop by and read a post or two.

So yes, you may officially point your finger at the Brock Man himself. I am HIS fault.
