It all happened one Halloween night in darkest Surrey, where the owls hide their eyes and the babies are silent in fear of the denizens of the dark...........
A time of spirits and imps. The Occult was heavy on the minds of those who attended........
All the hosts of evil and wrongdoings in the world had gathered to wreak pure evil on the innocent and pure, their influence was everywhere......
Followed by a really stodgy pudding!
What a really great night out with torches this turned out to be.
Brooklands is a lovely place, steeped in history and the volunteers very knowledgable and entertaining in their tales about the cars, planes and the ghosts! (No we didn't see any.)
It was very nice to meet up with Jay R, Blue Led, Tofty and Hemdale once again and very, very nice to meet Hemdale's other half Cecile for the first time. I hope she thinks kindly of us Luxheads and our obsessions.
There was a slightly smaller selection of lighting wonders on our table at the pre-walk dinner. A selection of EDC's and some new unique works from Mr Tofty.
A selection:
And as for the uniquely designed Tofty lights - try these:
And precious metals, too!
And then it was time for us to pack away our things and follow a man called Gerald (Ex-BBC to boot!) through the darkened paths and tracks of the Brooklands race circuit. Encountering steep climbs, high viewing bridges and sharply canted corners. Along with a brief trip into the tunnels under the track itself (where we heard the ghostly sound of an ancient race car passing overhead!!!).
Unfortunately all this was too dark for my phone cam to cope with, and besides I was too busy wanging around my DBS Night Master Aspheric and my Klarus XT20, whilst shielding my eyes from BlueLed's TN31 or Jay's Skyray!!!!
But here are a couple of shots of the biggest plane they built there:
Then into the hanger for some History:
This Lancaster Bomber spent much of the time since WWII underwater in Loch Ness where it was forced to ditch, until some monster hunters found it and it was salvaged in remarkable condition! Although it was missing two of its engines and it had shrunk in the wash a bit
So a big thank you to BlueLed for organising this trip and we must scan the net for more torchlit visits over the coming months. I do encourage those of you in the area to visit this great museum, we only saw a small fraction of all that was there, and it deserves another visit soon.
Also thanks to Jay for giving us a lift back to the station after it was all over.
