What size pvc pipe would make a good cr123a holder for magc and magd? Or is there something else commonly available at the hardware store? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

For a D Cell, I use a piece of 1" Sched40 PVC pipe, and then use a piece of Clear 3/4" ID - 1" OD water tubing inside of it. This holds my 2 18650s in my Blaster VI. The tubing is slightly curved, so it takes care of any loose cell rattling, and the 1" PVC is very close in OD to a D Cell.

Buy the PVC pipe with the proper Inner Diameter. I took a 123 battery and physically checked.

With 25.4mm to the inch, and a 123 battery @ 17mm diameter, one would think that a 1/2" ID pipe would work, but most were a smidge too small to insert the battery. In the third store I tried, I found the right (I.D. labeled as 1/2") pipe (at Menards). Cut the pipe to length. Wrap Gaffers or Duct tape around the pipe until you have a snug fit inside your M@gC or M@gD tube.

It's always fun trying to extract actual dimensions from "trade" sizes, since most spec sheets assume you're only going to be working with like materials/fittings and could care less about the real dimensions.

elektrolumens had the really nice ones but he's been /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sleepy.gif on that project /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/poke2.gif If he ever gets around to it I'll probably grab a few just in case.

Some of the best I have found is a plastic tube that holds end mills. Machine shops throw these things away all the time. Usuall they will expand to hold upto 3 or 4 cells, and can be round or square tubes.
