Hello everyone,i had a bit of a scare today.
Got home from work and threw my clothes in the washing machine.I made sure i emptied my pant pockets, removed my Surefire E1B,keys,loose change, cell phone.
When the load was done threw everything in the dryer and watched a bit of TV,30 min.later i remembered i had a spare battery for my E1B in a small zipped pocket.:sick2:
You could imagine the whites in my eyes!
I was envisioning a laundry room in flames. I bolted down the basement in 3 second flat,i was pleasantly surprised that there was no black smoke and i still had my eyebrows.
I quickly opened the dryer door and pull out my pants.Man it was hot! I unzip the small pocket on my pants and held in my hands a Streamlight CR123 cell that was so hot (i dropped it) it made my L4 feel cool.
I checked the voltage, still 3.0 hmm i put it in my E1B and it worked perfect.
Wheww...did i dodge a bullet on this one?

Take care

After just reading the massive http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=120888
you might want to just throw the battery away? Any residual moisture could be bad, and could surface during the heatup from subsequent flashlight use. From what I've read, my 0.5 cents.

Also, the maximum temp a lithium 123 should be permitted to reach is 60C. As your clothes dryer probably got it hotter than that, you would be betting your $2 against millions of dollars in safety engineering by the battery manufacturers.

I think I would have pissed myself before I ever got to the dryer:eek::faint:!

Lucky!

It's one thing to have in a light:sick2:, but just all by it's self:duck:!

Glad to hear that you escaped without mishap.

But, if it were ME . . . .

I would dispose / recycle that 123A cell in question.
