Hi All,
Freezing (well, relatively) and dark here in South Oz at present so I thought I'd tell you about my latest winter project and the first LED bike light I've made that is actually inside an enclosure! It hasn't made it off the test bench yet but it definitely works!
Consists of a Hammond box (one of those with a slide-out base plate) sawn in half. It has an internal bit of angled stock for the mount and 2 of the Cutter MR-11 triple boards and lenses running in series as per Martin's basic circuit with a shorting switch on one of the clusters (Steve Kurt's suggestion).
It's a dog's breakfast of wires inside - mainly because I tried to use the Hammond box's sliding board mount - I should have put a fixed board on the back of the LED mountng plate! You live and learn!
So far it seems very bright, with as good focused spot and some spread as well. Of course this is only shining it out of the shed door with the lights off! We'll see what it's really like when I get it on the bike.
Thanks to all who have inspired me to tackle this! I'll post some pictures when the forum lets me (or maybe when I find somewhere I can put them on the web)!
