Appears Rebel 100's are no longer being used in production.....evolution is accelerating.

Well, I'm glad I got my Eiger Rebel when I had the chance. The XP-Gs are nice, but the Rebel has a better tint.

to be honest-you have a point- I had 2 of the first gen. eigers and the tint was a mildly cool white- just about perfect by my eyes with the Rebel. The XP-G SS is a definately different, but I can live with the tint if it is more efficient. Also picked up a SS Logan #7 and it is now my new EDC- the output on primary CR123's is most excellent- I'm guessing at least 105 OTF Lumens. Blows the Mckinley 7 LED 5mm head and P4 out of the water. Really liking this one- the head diameter being smaller- it makes for a better EDC than the larger head.
Very happy with it- will have to check the runtime on the new Cree'd Eiger #6.....the wide head is shorter- I like it much better than the medium or narrow head because of that. The Logan is matched up with a Ti 123 body- so the weight is very managable and diameter too. Optic is very clean looking and sturdy.

That's interesting, those brass models look so tempting.. it would be nice to get some more information about the upgraded models (new output/runtime levels, whats the tint/beam like now..?).
Unfortunately it seems pretty messy trying to figure out stuff about Peak models since there's no single place to read the latest information from, if any.)

I suspect they'd still make you one with a Rebel if they have any left in stock...

I think the better efficiency of the XP-G is a welcome change since it's single-mode AAA light, I'm just hoping the beam/tint wont suffer too much with it. :p

I would really like to here from someone who has the new XPG Eiger. How does it compare with the Rebel for brightness.

I've got two Eigers, one ordered a few weeks ago, one a few months ago.
Is there an easy way to distinguish an XPG from a Rebel (without taking the light apart)?

Take this with a mine of salt, but comparing two Eigers, one with a #3 XP-G and one with a #4 Rebel 100, I would estimate that on AAA Alkaline or 10280 LiIon, that the #3 XP-G is about 10-15% brighter than the #4 Rebel. The #3 should be driven 10-15% less than the #4 as well. I might hazard a guess that identical levels would be 20% or so brighter in XP-G then Rebel 100. I've used this as an opportunity to get a longer runtime and less heat generation with the same light output in an Eiger size light.

Sounds pretty good to me. How does the tint and beam profile of the XP-G compare to the Rebel's?

The emitter's profile is not discernible with the optic that Peak uses on the medium Eiger- the optic redefines the beam pattern so the two emitters have real-life beam patterns that really look the same. As far as tint, my Rebel is on the warm side, and the XP-G is very cool (on the blue side, but not overtly or irritatingly blue by any means)- it'll certainly be a personal preference thing.
