So, here's the deal. I DJ at a strip club and obviously I need a flashlight up there- the club lights just don't cut it. I've been using my D10 which works great since it's compact and I can always keep it clipped on me.

Now, here's where it gets tricky. Sometimes some of the girls get bored and shine the light through their...ahem. To see the implants and the whole area glow, but I'm told the D10 at max just isn't bright enough. So what's a fairly cheap light that is substantially brighter than the D10? I prefer AA since I use eneloops but might be open to C123's for the right light, also prefer something fairly compact, so nothing beyond 2 batteries. Oh, we also use the flashlights to spotlight the stage if something noteworthy is happening like a customer taking her top off.

Suggestions?

Do I hear a CPF meeting :grouphug: at your workplace
- there's nothing like a real test...

Surefire 6P with a Malkoff dropin. The M60 has about 240 lumens, I believe, and substantial SPOT. If you need more juice than that, and can give up on the spot aspect, I have one of nailbender's P7 dropins, and it truly puts out a remarkeable amount of light for the size...but it is quite floody. Would be just fine at most strip club distances. But if you're accross the room and really want to "spot" someone on stage, you will likely find it too floody.

Either of these would serve you well, I think, though the beams are VERY different.

I'd be happy to bring a few lights down for you to try out...I'll help with the research.

get the girls to sit on a polarion and maybe both *ahems* will be illuminated at the same time?

Welcome to CPF SomeoneSomewhere, this is an interesting request, and one of the few times I might want to BE a flashlight.

EagleTac has a few models that run on two AA Eneloops really well. The P10A2 is my favorite, but the P100A2 would also work. Both are brighter than my D10 [Q5 not R2]. According to MrGman's integration sphere tests the P10A2 high is 173, and an L2D Q5 on turbo is 145 [he doesn't have results for a D10].

There's a sale on them right now at EagleTacStore [4Sevens].

Pick any two:
Small - bright - cheap

You're asking for three - small, bright, and powered by AA cells, can't happen.

Sounds like you just want one small blaster, as you already have your D10 and you can use that for your dj tech related stuff, just like you already are. So you want a bright stage prop.?

A 1 cell pocket rocket, a show-off light. Something like saberwolf's modded hcu-m7 with an mc-e in it. Old4570 modded a few single cells lights from DX with P7's and sst-50's. You don't need run time or low cost because it'll only be used once or twice a night, if at all.

Marketplace has offerings, or the B/S/T custom lights.

I made the wrong career choice.

The D10 is pretty BRIGHT, they must have some pretty BIG "ahems". It suddenly dawned on me why white wall hunting is so popular...

On a more serious note, have you considered using a Lithium Ion 14500 in the D10? It will emit more light than an eneloop, but the run time will be less.

I should elaborate a little bit since I'm still looking for a little feedback. I "lost" my D-10, which happily was found by my brother a few days later, and in the interim I used my streamlight 2xAA, which obviously isn't even as bright as the D-10, but I found myself liking the form factor of the clip and having it jut a bit out of my pocket so I could grab it whenever I needed it.

So here is a bit more about what I'm looking for: it can't be too big, like say a Mag D-cell, those are basically not allowed since I could use it as a weapon. And while my point of reference is a D-10, it doesn't necessarily have to be that compact, as mentioned the 2xAA form seemed to fit nicely. I consider fairly cheap to be within the realm of say 100 bucks, particularly if it's a light I can use in other situations. Finally, I would consider it a huge place to be able to use a filter on it; just a straight white light in a club with black lights looks strange but I get the feeling a red beam might be pretty useful.

Right now I'm considering a TK20 (only because I've always wanted one), the LD20, or a TK10. The TK20 would probably be the most impractical given it's designed for outdoor use and the lowest mode is 45 lumens, which can be a bit bright in certain conditions.

Any opinions on either the LD20 or TK10? I'm leaning towards the LD20 for the slimness factor and the fact I already have plenty of eneloops, but am open for suggestions of other lights based on my updated parameters.

Mommy!

Nitecores are on sale at 4sevens.com. There's a 15% code floating around here somewhere if you still like those lights.

if you wont the big guns to glow brighter you need more lumens. Thus there won't be too much improvement compared to the D10. Maybe a light which pushes it's emitter updated to XP-G R5.

Or 2xAA Lions + MC-E?

Eagletac P20A2 is what you're looking for. Currently has the brightest hotspot out of all 2xAA lights. It also comes with optional neutral white LED and R/G/B filters.
