So i have a foxpro prarie blaster, runs on 8 D battery and when running

higher than half volume is recommended to use their lead acid sealed or gel battery packs. in a nut shell, its a super loud boom box used for calling wild animals.

my question is instead of using the battery packs @ 35 bucks each what primary D cell or rechargeable D cell would be a good choice for such a high drain unit.

-I am assuming they do not recommend using alkaline batterys at high power because they are not meant to dischare so fast and might get hot?

thanks!
