I know a long time ago there was talk of a single D cell for an Arc AA head. I was wondering if anyone had ever made one?

Even assuming an AAA cell last only 4 hours, that is 1100/4=275mA per hour. Now a alkaline D cell is 18,000mA, so 18,000/275=65 Or a 65 hour runtime! Realistically I would guess more in the neighborhood of 100 hours, or 4 days of light. This would be the perfect power outage light, just set it in the middle of a table and let it run.

i recal someone did this before...
although i think he subsituted a metal body for some packing tape /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I did rig up a single D holder to the head, it works fine, but just isn't all that pretty or easily carriable or moveable. I am picturing a D cell sitting in the middle of a table shinning up, perfect /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Been there, done that... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Looks kinda silly, but it works fine...

The short fat guy next to the Arc-AAA is in fact the C-cell holder for the Arc-AAA head. It will allow a long runtime for camping or that sort of thing.

Here is the Arc-C

I just made this one with an AAA head I had. How much is the DSpeck D holder?

It should be possible to saw off then re-tap a Mag 2D and use two pieces of magnet wire to connect the Arc AAA head to the PR base. If you don't want to cut the Mag 2D body, maybe you can just add a 7-8 ohm resistor and use two batteries---should last even longer.

Its been on for 15 hours and still going strong. Ill probably leave it on until the weekend to get an idea of how long it lasts.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif hahahaha, that is silly, but I love it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
