I was at the Bay Area CPF get-together last night, when I chanced upon a light I have long been curious about: the iTP A3 EOS 3-mode.

Out of curiosity, I cranked my D10 down to low, and did the same to the iTP.

Results: the iTP, rated at 1.5 lumens, appeared to be brighter than the D10, which is rated at 2 lumens.

The moral of the story: don't accept manufacturer's ratings as gospel. Most of the time, they're using emitter lumens rather than OTF lumens (there are exceptions to this rule :D)

On a separate note, I'm actually GLAD that the D10's low appeared dimmer than the iTP's. In fact, it almost seems TOO bright sometimes. Go figure.

If it was my light (the black one) it was running off a 10440 so that may be the reson for the increase in brightness.

It might have been. There were a lot of them floating around the table, if I remember.

Also, I popped open the D10 today and found that it was using a half dead alkaline, so it might have been a little bit of both.

The low on my D-10 gdp seems to be a lot lower than the low on my Maratac aaa.

erk.. all my aaa lights were running 10440s.. I hope you weren't using those to compare
