Damaged battery after dropping flashlight

I recently dropped my 18650 P60 flashlight head first, at an approximate height of 1m plus.
I tested it immediately & it was running fine.
Till i took the battery out to recharge it & this was what i found.
The Trustfire battery positive end was totally flattened.

The driver in use is the 8 * 7135 with the default short hard spring.
I am currently in the midst of changing all the short springs to the longer but softer kinds.

Do yourself a big favor and don't use the cell again. Probably should not have it in the house or garage and anywhere it could vent with or without flame and do some real damage.

Any recommendations to safely dispose rechargeable cells?

Ideally, you want to fully discharge the cell in a safe manor before tossing it. A hobby charger with discharge feature and some somewhat long charge leads (for discharge) works best but not everyone has one. Do you have any low voltage electrical devices around that you could make up some temp connection leads for and run the cell down that way? Any low Wattage 6-Volt light bulbs, computer fans? If yes, be sure to do this in an open area, outside.
