Well , I got this charger and right away put it to the Multimeter and started getting strange readings ...

The long and the short of it is , if the MM is not lying to me , this charger appears to be trying to charge backwards :ohgeez:

Now this could be very bad :poof: , I consider this purchase this way , got me a 18650 battery holder , and a 18650 battery a little on the expensive side , the charger could be a hand grenade in the making ..

I highly recommend avoiding this one folks :shakehead

Can you describe how the charger appears to be trying to charge backwards?

This sounds like the charger is draining the battery.

Well , I dont know about discharging .. ??? [ Not a battery charger but a discharger ?? ]

There is no voltage reading to speak of , putting in the battery , and measuring current , I get - 4.5mA or - 0.0045A [batt @ 3.75v][ Thats minus ] which means the current is the wrong way around , no not the battery ..

I get the feeling its been connected the wrong way , but with no voltage reading and such a low charge current , Im just going to toss this charger .
Im not going to risk using it . And with the current running the wrong way - at least my MM say's so , its for the rubbish bin .

With the batt @ 4.14v [ Charged in my TR-001 ] I cant measure any current or voltage at all , no results at all , so obviously the unit is faulty , and to use a faulty charger is just begging for a house burning .

Ive heard some bad things about this one , and this purchase just confirms lousy quality control and very possibly a POS charger .
Im charging up the battery and will test shortly , but with so many other chargers to chose from , why would anyone consider a charger with a track record for being less than :green:

My own folly aside , I was interested in the battery and what now looks like a nice 18650 cradle [ Just in case I ever get a hobby charger ] .

I love my DSD charger, I use it every day!!! Of course, I've ripped out the "circuitry" and now use it for a 8.4V source for my deathrays.

Are you trying to charge a fully charged battery? According to the specs for the charger at Alibaba.com the charger stops charging at 4.15 volts or above.

Have you tried charging a depleted cell?

What was the LED indicator showing?

There is no way Im going to attempt anything with this charger , Im curious , but not silly , Im not going to attempt to fix it , or put a Li-ion in it for any reason . [ -0.0045A charge rate @ 3.75v ] At its charge rate it would take for ever to charge , but as I can only assume its faulty , why on earth would I risk creating a hand grenade . This thing is too cheap to do anything but toss it , its not right , it's a sealed unit [ no screws ] so I will most likely damage it in the opening , and there is no way I can trust it .
Rubbish goes in the rubbish bin , and if anyone wants one , mine came from Ebay , .... Yeah the charge light comes on , but I cant measure any voltage level at all , and the charge rate is so low @ 3.75v [ 4.5mA ] it would take only 444Hours to charge a 2000mA battery , if it maintained the charge rate .
As I said , junk ! for the junk pile .

OK, so it is draining the battery 4.5mA at 3.75V?

So the battery you attempted to charge isn't fully charged. I don't understand why you are so afraid that the battery is going to explode if it is being drained 4.5mA.

4.5mA or 0.0045A [ was in a rush to get out the door ] Its backwards , its trying to charge + into the - of the battery , so its wired incorrectly , Im not going to try and fix it due to the 0.0045A charge rate ..
And I cant get a voltage reading from it either ... So where its wired incorrectly ? All I know is its junk ..
And if it is discharging @ 0.0045mA ??? Problem is I cant get a voltage reading to verify + - , if its only discharging , its still junk for a charger , how ever if its actually + into the - then that might be reverse charging and quite possibly :poof: , Im not going there , its enough for me to know its faulty .
I dont need to burn down my house to confirm it , or vent a 18650 .
