Day carry?

I'll always make room for at least a AAA in the pocket. And, if I have my keys a backup on the chain.

Not a day goes by without me loading up on lights before I go out the door. For EDC duties I usually carry two (Raw and Wee in the pockets) but always have three with me (the last one (NEX) is always on the keyring but the keys are not always near me). And only for the Wee I carry a single spare. This is just as said; every day life. If I know in advance I need to use light, I will bring along a more appropriate light for the situation.

Now that the flashlight season is upon us I am tempted to carry a fourth... in the jacket pocket but I am hesitant... it would only be for toying with... :shakehead

Just because it's light outside now doesn't mean it'll be light outside later... Likewise it doesn't matter if it's day outside and power goes out when you're inside with no windows. EDC = all the time.

Furthermore two is one and one is none. I always have a light, and a backup light, and spare cells. (and usually a couple more just in case the first two fail, or if I need to give lights to others, etc.)

Why the spare cells?

Even the Maratac or ITP AAA will get 4+ hours on medium which provides plenty of light for most EDC and emergency uses.

As an LEO, before I retired, I have been in warehouses, stairwells, and all kinds of large buildings, where the lights were out. It gets just as dark as at night it there aren't a lot of windows around. Many cops typically don't carry lights on their belt when working day shift and they frequently have to wait for someone to bring a light. When we had an incident on days where we needed a light, people then said, "I'll always carry a light......", but the memory doesn't last long. Cops have to carry a lot of stuff and the desire to reduce the duty belt load is always there.

As long as there are shadows, there will be outdoor uses for a flashlight during daytime, including looking inside a car's engine compartment, inspecting seals underneath a truck or tractor, etc.

I had to replace a light switch inside a dark basement this morning with the AC power turned off. An LED flashlight made it possible.

As others have mentioned, I have been inside dark department stores when the power failed. The store's "emergency lights" were useless because they left major portions of the store pitch black.

One in holster belt carried, LD01 on keychain(awaiting arrival of PD10) and I have been think of starting to carry one clipped to my pocket.

Same routine everyday.

I always carry at least one flashlight in my pocket (normally a AAA) and usually two (L1D or another 1xAA type). A Maratac AAA is my latest babe... awaiting for preons

I explained that I have a mental condition that results in abnormal tenancies towards carrying powerful portable illumination devices, and that the doctors have not yet developed a drug powerful enough to suppress the behavior.
