DB Driving Three Lux IIIs?

Could a single DB, configured for about 800 ma, effectively drive three Luxeon IIIs at 800ma? How would the Lux IIIs be connected? Thanks.
 
I'll take a shot and Wayne can come in and correct me. Otokoyama needs to put his LED's in series and will need a Vin of 12V or a bit higher (Add the Vf's of the LED's) The DB should handle this I believe.

Tyler would need to put his LED's in parallel and the Vin will need to be around 4V min. The DB should have no problem with this, whatsoever.

With the parallel connection you will have the risk, that the currents are not split evenly (especially if the Vf or the temperatures are not equal).
 
Good point PeterB! One should certainly stick with the same bin and verify Vf is possible. I assume a common heat sink so the temp would likely be common.

The temperature differential could be a problem for my idea, but I think since I plan on considerable underdriving it may not be a deal breaker. I'm not concerned about differences in output between the two emitters, either. More details after I've thought this out.
 
Don, Thanks. I was hoping to drive at 8 x 1.2V. Guess I'll need to revert to my original plan of using 3 x DB800, assuming NiMHs can handle this level of current draw.
 
Otok, from TWAK to SWAM you have a minimum sum of Vf of 10.5 and max 12.6V, at 700mA. Maybe you can use one badboy instead? Quote from Wayne and ticey's FAQ: "Both input and output voltage are set by the capacitor voltage ratings and for the current Badboy is a 10V part.  Derating this to 9V should make for a safe design."

So I figure it might destroy the converter.
