Decent D size NiMH charger help please

I am giving a nice Tri Cree M@g I built to a friend of mine. It has a Shark and runs on 3 Accupower D size LSD batteries. He's a disabled vet and on a fixed income. I know the Maha 808M would be a good choice, I have one and like it a lot, but it might be a little out of his price range.

I'd like to know if there is a less expensive choice for him. Accupower offers a charger that is in his price range. Has anyone used it? I think Vanson has one as well.

I have three AccuPower 20 chargers and have helped about a half dozen others buy the same charger. I would recommend it highly as an all around general purpose charger that is simple to use and takes all types of batteries.

I've charged NiMH AAA, AA's, C and D cells as well as 9 volt NiMH batteries and it hasn't complained once on any of the types.

I use it on both AC and DC power sources as well with no problems.

Some times a cell will be over discharged and the charger fails to recognize it. But a little trick is to unplug the charger and plug it back in with the cell in the slot and during the startup process it kicks the cell back into charging order and finishes charging it just fine.

I bought the charger after reading about it on SilverFox's charger comparison thread.
