I have been searching for a cordless phone system for my house. I bought several, from bell to panasonic, and shopped at circuit city, longs, rite aid, best-buy, and others. Most are going back because I liked the Panasoinc phones the best. They felt like real phones and the buttons were intuitive/useable.
On one of the bell phones I had to actually read the instructions to find out how to adjust the ringer settings. I don't need any gadgets that require instructions, now.
I was shopping for 5.8 ghz phones because that seems like the latest thing. They're supposed to be free from wireless interference (for now). I don't get any wireless interference (I think), so I don't know if there is an advantage.
Anyway, just wanted to share some experience with the cordless phone search. I'm looking for a good deal online now for a Panasonic phone set with multiple units.
Lastly, my mom liked the speaking caller ID feature of the Panasonic phone. The voice is the usual computer voice, not your own recorded voice, so it is annoying, but a useful feature nevertheless.
At this point I wouldn't even be looking at Uniden, Bell, or other cheap units. I felt like I would end up hating them because I knew they were subpar.
