In my outdoor tests the TL-2 consistantly out-threw the Scorpion, and since Dano pointed out in a previous thread that the two lights share the same reflector shape the throw difference must be due to the different "faceting" of the two reflectors. The Scorpion's reflector has a satiny sheen that produces a more diffused beam than the TL-2's brightly reflective one. The PILA lamps with their "satiny" reflectors produce even wider beams; my PILA G2's beam is the closest approximation to the L4's that I've seen in an incandescent light.
Although the present PILA lamps are superb it would be nice to have the option of a more highly focused beam for longer throw.
