Hi All,
Basically the subj. Is it correct to assume that 50 is brighter, but with shorter lifetime?
Those can be dropped into for AA or AAA maglites?
And what is special/good about NX05 Optics?

That is correct the 500 is a bit brighter but suffers a shorter runtime and they only fit in two AA lights. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Is there any 1W drop in for AAA? Or is it too much for the size?

The NX05 optics collect as much light as possible from top to ground region of the LED and project it. Unlike a reflector, or unlike a bare LED, it's a spot flood.

The 1AAA drop in is barely doable. As of right now, there's very little availability outside of CPF modders. If you do a search in the Homemade/Modified Lights section, you'll find a few 1AAA LS dropins...

REALLY, not much between the two. I've compared both of them together and I could not see ANY difference but LED's are strange and they differ from example to example. If a BB500 example IS slightly brighter than the 400, it's not worth the shorter run time and will only be brighter for a very short time. The BB400 is as bright as you'll ever need in a Mag AA conversion and it stays bright for a long time!
