Hello.

I noticed in another forum that a guy is going to buy 18650 to replace his old pack with.

I always thought that there isn't any difference between 3,6 V and 3,7 Volts cells.

He is concerned and want an answer which cell to buy?

The laptop is bought 2003.

Re: Difference Li-Ion 3,6 Vs 3,7 ?

Hello Anders,

In 1991 Sony introduced a Li-Ion cell that had a coke electrode. That configuration had a nominal voltage of 3.6 volts and a maximum charge voltage of 4.1 volts. I seem to remember that it was in production for around 5 years. Since that time, they have gone to a graphite electrode. These cells have a nominal voltage of 3.7 volts and a maximum charge voltage of 4.2 volts.

If your friend is purchasing cells manufactured after around 1996, there should be no differences.
