Difference twixt Q5/ XP-G

What is the difference between the Q5 and the SSC-P7? I saw a photo and the P7 looks like four smaller emitters… now what is the difference between the that and the XP-G??

Is there a list of the chronological development of these LEDs? Trying to under stand the LED thing is very confusing.

The Q5 is a single die emitter that produces at least 107 lumens at 350ma. The XP-G supposedly produces 139 lumens at 350ma. The XP-G has a bigger die, so it's harder to focus. It's in the XP package which is pretty tiny (3.45mm x 3.45mm). The SSC P7 is a quad die emitter. It uses the same dies as the XR-E, XP-E and SSC P4, except that it has 4 times as many.

Q5 is a bin number for Cree LEDs. You are probably refering to the XR-E Q5.

in short: when You think "Q5", You mean a Cree XR-E led.
That led is built in brightness bins, ranging from P2 (?), P3, P4, Q1, O2, ..., to Q5 and R2. The last one being the brightest.

the XP-G is a "newer model" of the XR-E which is brighter - they could also have named it XR-E "T1"

P7 and Cree MC-E are quad-led, means: four emitter plates together in one package.
Has its own pro and con arguments. In short: much more brightness but also much more current consumed - to single die led.
