Hi guys,

I'm looking for a DMM, but I don't even know where to start.:o I was thinking about just stopping by Radio Shack and picking up a $30 unit, but I know Sears and Fry's has a few. For now I simply plan on using it to test the voltage on batteries, but a few extra features would come in handy in the near future (when I decide to delve into the electronic side of flashlights).

If anyone has any good recommendations for me I would appreciate it. I am a bit strapped on cash at the moment, so I'm going to settle with something <$40. I don't mind settling on a cheap unit, as long as it gives accurate and precise measurements.

Thanks!

I'm happy with my 2 Craftsman multimeters. If I had the money, I'd get myself a Fluke though :naughty:

I have an Extech MN36 that is in that price range as I recall. Fry's has Extech. They are decent, especially considering the price. I've checked mine on a precision 5V reference, and it reads right on. So does my Harbor Freight DMM, but there are a lot more features and quality in the Extech. You may find several Extech models in that price range to choose from.
