Direct drive SSC P7 using 3 eneloops. CSXOI or DSXOJ?

I want to direct drive a SSC P7 led using 3 eneloops.

Considering VF, C vs D bin output and 3 NiMh batteries, Which LED would be better in terms of output, run time and heat dissipated?

I'd go with the DSXOJ to be on the safe side. A few people have reported frying the LED when using I voltage bin on 1 x li-ion or 3 x NiMh, which is possible if you happen to get an emitter at the low end of I bin.

As for the brightness, it's impossible to say without knowing the exact Vf and lumen rating of each emitter, since the Vf and brightness bins are adjacent. If the CSXOI happens to be at the low end of I bin then it will almost certainly be brighter but the emitter will be way overdriven.
