Disappointed with my new L4

I dunno guys...

I've been playing with this thing for the last few days.

It's pretty cool and all, but doesn't have all those beam rings like my maglites do, not to mention the huge black hole in the center of the beam is conspicuously absent in my L4.

No...all I get is this really bright (brighter than my 3 D-cell mag!), room-illuminating white light, with a very broad, totally smooth beam. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Is my L4 broken? Maybe I should return it to get one with rings and holes like the Mag?

Gee, It's been so long since I've seen rings and holes in my beams. Maybe I should buy a couple of M _ _ s for old times sake. Appearances are more important than function and I could use another hammer...

That's horrible man, I would raise hell if I were you. Have you called or e-mailed Surefire and complained about things apparent defects? I'm gonna go play with my mag.

I love the intricate swirls and patterns and splotches of a Mag incandescant. There's nothing more boring that the so called 'perfect' beam of an L4 (or LS2 for that matter) to put me right to sleep. Those L4s just don't have any character.

You know, I loved my L4 until you pointed out those defects. Now I am looking for a two year old with a bad cold to modify the lens for me. Hopefully a bad cold so that I can get that snotty yellow color too.

Seriously as soon as I received my KL4 I compared it to my E2e... for about 5 seconds before retiring the incandescant head. Presently I use leds for everything < 200 lumens.

I have this great little yellow 2D light. It will never blind you or anyone near you and surely won't disturb your night vision either. You send me the L4, and I will send you this great light, a brand new AA Mini-Mag, a 2D Mag, and a 3D mag.
