My 4x123 + 1AA powered, WA01318 bulbed M*g 3C is somewhat disappointing. I finally got off my a$$ and worked over my Carley 1940 reflector to use in it.
Lots and lots of aluminum shavings later, it will go over the pedestal. So I put it together. Just as I said in another thread, much the same as I saw with the stock M*g reflector, I get a double oval doodoo beam. I can get it perfect, in that it will make a perfect figure 8 with a "hot" spot right in the middle.
I tried two other 1318s, and even the Carley 809 I took out when the WAs arrived. Same difference more or less.
Writeright makes it a lot better, but I can't get it tight enough that my Peli M6 can't show up in the beam.
The shear VOLUME of light is untouchable by the M6 or my LX, but I just figured it would all turn out better.
It ain't terrible, and I'll have fun with it anyway!!!
