could i potentially make a sidemarker light(parking lights, wedge bulbs, t10) with
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.13557
this driver and
epoxy a metal nut as an heatsinkto the end
and
epoxy a led to the heatsink.

the description says the current is around 600ma. would a metal nut be enough mass to prevent the led from overheating. maybe a cree led or some leftover 3w luxeons..

a nut of the size I think you are talking about would be nowhere near enough to dissapate the heat of a LED at that current.. I'm not positive but would probably need over 10 square inches of surface area to be able to dissipate that heat..

I think you would be better off using aluminium.
That part doesn't cost much, give it a try and post your results.
