I'm trying to determine if these two Cree emitters share the same die. Also, can someone tell me what the die size is for each of these emitters?

Yes, same die.
I believe they are 0.7x0.7mm(cant find a ref)

I have some more XR-C/XP-C questions :)
Does anyone know if it would be okay to push the 500ma current limit, for either of these emitters, to 700ma, given adequate heatsinking? That would work out exactly to a 28% increase in current, which is exactly the same percentage increase of running a 1amp XR-E at 1.4amps.
Also, concerning the XR-C, I remember a thread of saabluster's where he ground down the back of an XR-E, to get a better thermal path to the heatsinking (I haven't found that thread again, yet.) Would anyone know if the same thing would work on the XR-C, as well?

Looks like these 2x emmitter's 500ma max current rating falls squarely between the EZ600's DC forward current (400ma) and the Peak forward current (600ma.) Does that mean the dies in the XR-C and XP-C are EZ600 ?
If so, then which, if any, emitters use the EZ700 die ? And thanks for sharing this info, LEDninja !

Update: I found that the Cree MPL emitter uses the EZ700 die

Thanks, a whole lot, saabluster! I have read the entire thread, again, now I will see what I can learn from hands on.
